IFC 2011

The Second International Finance Conference by IIM Calcutta will be held from 10th – 12th January, 2011 at Kolkata, India and will specifically focus on financial markets and corporate finance. It will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Finance Minister of India – Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. The Conference will discuss latest research and global practices in risk management, corporate investment and financing choices, scenario planning, and asset liability management.

The keynote speakers at the conference are Suresh Sundaresan, Chase Manhattan Bank Professor of Economics and Finance at Columbia University who has published in the areas of Treasury auctions, bidding, default risk, habit formation, term structure of interest rates, asset pricing, investment theory, pension asset allocation, swaps, options, forwards, futures, fixed-income securities markets and risk management. Thomas Noe, Ernest Butten Professor of Management Studies at the Saïd Business School, is one of the 20 most prolific researchers publishing in elite finance journals and is also a co-editor of the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy. Jeffrey Wurgler, Nomura Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business, NYU, has interests in the areas of corporate finance and behavioural finance. Gautam Mitra is an internationally renowned research scientist in the field of Operational Research. IFC 2009

The first International Finance Conference by IIM Calcutta was held from 3rd-5th December 2009 at Kolkata, India. The conference featured distinguished speakers from around the world as well as numerous research papers from a host of areas in finance including : (1) Asset Pricing, (2) Market Volatility (3) Financial Innovation (4) Financial Risk Management (5) Operational Risk and Regulations (6) Investment Management (7) High Frequency Finance (8) Financial Regulation and Corporate Governance.

Keynote speeches were delivered by speakers like Stephen J. Brown, Carlo Acerbi, Avanidhar Subrahmanyam, Xunyu Zhou, Gautam Mitra, Dan Di Bartolomeo, Roy Kouwenberg and Con Keating. FinClub worked with the Department of Finance and Control to help coordinate the events during the conference.
