FM grants Rs. 20 cr for finance research at IIM-C in the Union Budget!
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced a grant of Rs. 20 cr. to IIM Calcutta for upgradation of its Finance Research & Trading Lab (http://financelab.iimcal.ac.in/) in the Union Budget 2011.
The Finance Lab set up in 2008 by the Department of Finance & Controls is a one of its kind facility available in the IIMs. Mr. Pranab Mukherjee had visited the Finance Lab earlier this year during the inauguration of the 2nd International Finance Conference on January 9th. This new development reinforces the position of IIM Calcutta as the premier center for financial education in the country.
About the Finance Research & Trading Lab:
The mission of the Finance Lab is to support advanced applied research in financial markets and equip finance managers with the mathematical and conceptual theories and best practices in financial markets that go into the creation and management of innovative financial products.
The Lab is equipped with a Bloomberg terminal, which provides access to real time national and international financial data, market information, business news, and cutting edge financial analysis tools. We are the only IIM to have access to a Bloomberg terminal. Apart from this, the Lab is also equipped with a trading exchange simulator (XSTrade) with real time data feed from five markets – NSE- Cash and F&O, BSE-Cash, NCDEX and MCX.
